Kat - you hit the mark when you say to keep loose furniture hardware in a baggie keep with the furniture. I had the same idea, but now I have the opposite problem - every time I put something back together I have extra parts! :)

I hate to think of all the times I've moved!!

Here are some things that have helped me.

Keep loose bolts/screws etc in a plastic baggie and tape to the furniture, they always seem to get lost.

Mark in black felt pen the room the boxes are going to and a short list of what is in there. (Library: fiction etc)

If you are moving out of the country, you'll need a list of what you are bringing. I kept a notebook and jotted down the items as I boxed them.

Use the towels to wrap breakables instead of newspaper.

Make a box of OPEN FIRST: coffee/tea pot, mugs, sugar, spoons, a couple of bowls, plates etc (can be disposables), can opener, a few cans of food, small pot.

Good luck packing and moving!!
